🔹A 2020 poll found that 82% of adults ages 50–80 experience ageism daily. Those experiencing multiple forms of ageism are more likely to have chronic health conditions and depression. ![]()
🔹64% of older workers believe that they face age discrimination and 41% report experiencing ageism in their workplace. ![]()
🔹Only an estimated 5% to 10% of marketing budgets are devoted to winning people older than 50 over. Only 5% of advertising images of people over 50 show them using technology, and even then it’s usually a younger person teaching an older person how to use a device.![]()

Q: Why is HESSCO conducting a Needs Assessment?![]()
A: As the Area Agency on Aging, HESSCO takes part in the Needs Assessment every 4 years in partnership with the MA Executive Office of Elder Affairs. We seek to hear input from older adults aged 60 and older and caregivers on the issues and needs of this population so that we can direct our services and funding to the areas of greatest need.![]()

Q: What does HESSCO do with the information gathered?![]()
A: HESSCO uses the information provided by the Needs Assessment to develop programs and services to the areas of need identified. ![]()

Q: How can I participate in the Needs Assessment?![]()
A: Use the survey link: app.keysurvey.com/f/41748328/8b22/ or scan the QR code using your phone’s camera. Paper copies are available in multiple languages. Contact HESSCO to request a paper copy.![]()

Q: Who can take the survey?![]()
A: Older adults aged 60 and older, caregivers of older adults, caregivers of adults with disabilities, grandparents raising grandchildren. A separate survey is available for community stakeholders, providers, and partners serving this population.![]()

Q: When is this survey completed?![]()
A: Every 4 years, a Needs Assessment is conducted. The 2024 Needs Assessment Survey must be completed by November 22, 2024.
